Matsumoto Samurai House
This was one of the samurai houses, which had been used for the location sites in a Japanese period movie. Matsumoto Samurai House is a Matsumoto family's house, which was a low class family in a samurai social class. In fact, it looked like a simple house compared to other houses.

Aoyagi Samurai House
This is one of the two main samurai houses in Kakunodate Town. There were lots of buildings, a gallery, samurai museum with many items and a cafe, as well as the main house. An admission fee was required to enter this house, ¥500 per person.

There were lots of collections of armors, swords, clothes and art objects.

This water ranoff over a stone from the mountain behind the house for a couple of hundred years.

'Yo-gi'
There were also lots of classic items, which had been used by local people around Akita region, in the Akita folk museum.

left, center, right: Special quilt cover, 'Yo-gi' . These were used for the guests of Aoyagi family. They were cloth-shaped quilt covers and they had long sleeve. Inside was a cotton material and they looked like a funny long down-jacket.
It is all easy to use 'Yo-gi'. To wear 'Yo-gi' just put it as usual and sleep in it! I'm a lazy person and it might be nice for me....

left: Souvenir shop with a nostalgic atmosphere.
center, right: A wood-effect vending machine, because of an agreement for the surroundings! Even within the samurai residence, you can buy a cold drink from the vending machine at anytime!

A parade float, which was decorated with paper dolls. I heard that a festival with this kind of float was held every September.
