I met Yo-san again in the evening, we headed to the famous beer cafe, "Dulle Griet".
The "Dulle Griet" is very famous for its unique rule for ordering the beer served in a 1.2L Kwak grass. When you order it, you have to check in one of your shoes as a deposit, and your shoe is hung from the ceiling in a basket!
However, I wasn't able to stomach a 1.2L beer so I drank a regular sized, different type of beer....
It was "Deugniet(ABV 7.5%)".

It is cloudy light amber in color with a fruity flavor and a bit of a dry aftertaste. I drank it for the first time and I included it on my list of favorite Belgian beers!
For the second glass, I ordered "hommel bier(ABV 7.5%)".

It is cloudy golden color not only is the aroma and taste guite hoppy, the aftertaste is also hoppy and dry. Unfortunately, it isn't to my taste.
I couldn't order the famous beer "Kwak(1.2L)" so I just took the picture of it. On that day, the Netherlands played in the World Cup 2014, so there were some happy-looking Dutch supporters in the bar who were drinking the huge beer. So I asked them to let me take their picture!
Japan had already lost and the fans comforted me saying "It's such a shame that Japan was knocked out SO quickly"....
Of course, their shoes were hanging from the ceiling!!
We moved to the next beer cafe, "De Trollenkelder", which is another famous cafe.
I drank "Chapeau Fraise (ABV 3.5%)".

It is a strawberry lambic beer, the strawberry aroma and flavor is instantly noticeable. The sweetness and sour taste is well-balanced, and it's a nice easy to drink lambic beer.
Lambic beer is often said to be the staple of Belgian beer, but I don't think so at all. On the contrary, lambic beer is not "beer" TO ME and is really just a tasty soft drink!
By the way, Belgian Yo-san can't drink alcohol so he had been drinking coffee, however he tagged along with me visiting various beer cafes for a long time. Thank you very much!
I said goodbye to Yo-san and I drank another beer "Chimay Bleue(2014) (ABV 9%)" at my hotel room.
The Chimay beer is a trappist beer and it's probably one of the most well-known Belgian beers in Japan.
"Trappist beer" is a generic name for beer brewed by Trappist breweries and is kind of a trademark. As of 2014, there are 6 trapist breweries in Belgium and the beers which I drank a few days earlier, "Westmalle" and "Westvleteren", were also trappist beers.
"Chimay Bleue" is dark ruby red in color with a malty and herb flavor. It has lots of body with rich bitterness. This beer had such a strong flavor with a high alcohol content, so it finally made me drunk....
