I ate tomato pasta for lunch.
It is a bland choice but tomato pasta can be found almost anywhere here, but it has never failed me. Even if it's not that tasty, at least the tomato flavor doesn't taste so bad. I have learnt THIS from my personal experiences overseas....

This big cannon is called the "Crazy Griet(Dulle Griet)".
Jus in case you didn't know, it is a sightseeing spot in Gent. But there isn't a lot I can say about it and it's just a big cannon, nothing else.

The "Vrijdagmarkt" is a open space which is surrounded by medieval buildings.
For your information, the bronze statue in the heart of the square is of Jacob van Artevelde. I don't know what he accomplished. But he is a historical figure because he was a political leader in this area during medieval times.

The town of Gent was very lively!

I stopped at the cafe "Etablissement Max" for a local speciality in Belgium, a waffle. There are two types of Belgian waffles, the "Brussels style waffle" and the "Liege style waffle". Speaking of which, the Brussels style is popular in Japan.

The cafe "Max" is famous as the originator of Brussels style waffle so I decided to give it a visit.
The "Brussels style waffle" is rectangular in shape, and the dough itself is little sweet, so it can be served wtih lots of powdered sugar sprinkled on top, a mountain of ice cream, many fruits and chocolate sauce poured over it like a waterfall, for example.
Even though it's served with many sweet things, the texture is light and it's easy to eat...or so people say.
I never believe such an unscientific opinion that a lover of sweets holds, so I ordered the simplest one just in case its sweetness would knock me down.

I was right after all.
I did my best but I couldn't finish everything on my plate. Even Funassy seems like he's having trouble tackling the monster-sized waffle!!
