ベルギー旅行

I went to a nice reataurant by the river for lunch, where I drank my 2nd glass of beer, "Duvel (ABV 8.5%)" a Belgian beer which is hugely popular worldwide.

"Duvel" is a pale blond in color, and it has a typical bitterness and refreshing aftertaste. It is a strong beer, so be sure not to drink too much!

I ordered a tomato, lettuce and shrimp salad and it was good. But, sure enough, it was served with a mountain of chips.... This sort of side dish is common in Europe and I always complain about the same thing when I'm overseas. I don't like POTATO.
The taste of potatoes never changes, even if the method of preparation is changed. Its texture is almost always the same. Potatoes are potatoes! I never understand why people love potato so much!
I'm especially very tired of the mountain of potatoes accompanying whatever I order.

As you can see in this photo, the town was full of Belgian colors and flags. Today, there's an unmissable football game, Belgium vs Russia in the 2014 Soccer World Cup! I'm looking forward to watching it tonight!

I drank "Delirium Tremens (ABV 9%)" as my 3rd beer at the popular beer cafe, "Het Waterhuis".

"Delirium Tremens" is a pale amber in color, as for the flavor, it has a bitter taste and good aroma. The aftertaste is quite strong and it has a long-lasting bitterness.

According to Europeans, I heard that drinking too much Delirium Tremens causes people hallucinate and see pink elephants. However, maybe I didn't drink enough because the pink elephants didn't appear before my eyes....

I went to another famous beer cafe "De Trollenkelder" and drank "Westvleteren Blond (ABV 5.8%)" was today's 4th beer.
"Westvleteren Blond" is deep amber in color. It has a slightly bitter taste with a mild aroma. It's my favorite one!

"Westvleteren Blond" is one of three beers which are brewed by Sint Sixtus. The beer is only sold at the abbey where it is brewed, and you must make an appointment to buy their beer, so it's not easy to come by even for the people of Belgium.

As you can see, the bottles are sold without labels, however you can tell the difference between the three beers simply by looking at its crown. The three beers has different colored crowns and the crown for "Westvleteren Blond" is a green one.

By the way, per case the beer is sold with 24 bottles each and the prices are as follows.
Westvleteren Blond(5,8%) 30 euros
Westvleteren 8 (8%) 35 euros
Westvleteren 12 (10%) 40 euros
I paid 12 euro for my "Westvleteren Blond" at the beer cafe!

The various types of beers on menu was on a whole different level compared to other countries! I felt overwhelmed by it again!

While eating McDonald's for dinner, I cheered for the Belgian soccer team, and I felt asleep before the game was played out and missed the victory.... I drank too much today.
