Although we felt that it was an awfully hot day, a young girl was wearing a jacket with a hood!! We were all confused if it was winter in Taiwan, or not?
After visiting the Taipei 101, we headed for Tamsui, a seaside town in Taipei. I heard that it was a popular spot for viewing the beautiful sunset into the Taiwan Strait.
The easiest way to get to Tamshui from Taipei is to ride the MRT. After 30 minutes ride on the MRT from Taipei, you can see a beautiful river and mountain from a train window on the left.
Tamshui
The Tamshui station is a terminal station of the MRT Tamshui line. The area around the station was busier than we had thought.
There were lots of local restaurants, snack stalls and souvenir shops on the streets. There were also McDonald's and Starbucks.
Unlike Japan, Taiwan adopts Chinese New Year and we saw lots of decorations for New Years everywhere. There were Chinese style displays and they looked very colorful.
