High St, the main street in Picton
It is about only 400m and I could walk from end to end in about 10 minutes. There was a tiny Bank of New Zealand for such a small town.
right:
A video shop, it must be the only video shop in Picton!

There was nothing around the end of the street....
right:
There was a very small police station. I wondered what kind of incidents would happen in such a peaceful town?

left:
Mariners Mall, this was the biggest super market in Picton and it was also along the main street. It was not so big but you can buy daily necessities of life there.
right:
"Kentucky", a fast food shop, which was two doors away from my motel. At first, I expected that it was a "Kentucky Fried Chicken"!

left:
Photo board of Popeye. He is a main character of an American comic "Popeye", it was broadcasted in the 1960's. It was surprising that this kind of old character was still working.
center:
A few shop windows were decorated with Christmas displays. It was in the beginning of November so it seemed that it was too early, in the Japanese sense. And New Zealand was in Spring!!!
right:
A price board of a petrol station. All prices of them were lower than Japan. I wanted to refuel and take home for my husband if I could!

I-SITE tourist information center
Is just 3-minutes walk from the ferry terminal. It was smaller than I had thought....

A photo which was taken at about 8:30p.m. It was still so light out and it was enough to walk around. The daylight was getting longer and longer every day. The best season for travel was only just around the corner.
