Fishing Tour
I joined a full day fishing tour, which I had booked from Japan in advance. I was picked up at 7:30a.m by a tour guide and we went fishing for trout in the lake.

Lake Clearwater
Our destination was Lake Clearwater and it was about a 2 hour drive from Christchurch. It was a lovely day and snowcapped mountain ranges were unbelivevably beautiful.

Edoras was an important part of the movie "Lord of the Rings" for its biggest fans. I had visited there on my last trip. It's located near the snowcapped mountain in the distance.

A fishing rod and rubber fishing boots, everythings was provided by the guide that I hired. I wore fishing boots for the first time ever in my life.

The tour guide was Mr.Ueda, who was Japanese and he ran a travel agency in Christchurch, and I had asked him to arrange for a homestay and a farmstay in Christchurch on my last trip. This was the first time that I tried to go fishing abroad so I asked a Japanese agent to arrange for a fishing tour.

He was getting the fishing gear ready. I chose to do lure fishing and he chose fly-fishing for that day.

I entered the water knee deep and fished with my rubber boots on. Mr.Ueda told me to go deeper and cast my fishing line as far as I could. But the water was very cold and the moss covered the stones making it slippery to stand on. Casting a lure, knee-deep in water, was harder than I had thought. Sometimes I almost lost my blance while looking into the lake! I felt a little afraid so I fished in the shallow shores.... However, after about an hour I got a bite! But I didn't know when to pull the line and it got away! I saw the fish out of water as it got away. It was definitely a trout!

It was a fine day but the wind blew up while fishing. The water got choppy and I couldn't stay in the water. So we gave up fishing there and had lunch with a bottle of red beside the lake. I drank it all because he was the driver! I was afraid of drowning in the afternoon....
