Whakapapa Ski Area
Is located on the northern slopes of Mt.Ruapehu, which is one of the most active volcanos in New Zealand, the last eruption being in 1996! After a 15 minutes drive from Whakapapa Village, we arrived at Whakapapa Ski Field, which was a popular ski area in New Zealand. Lots of slopes on Mt.Ruapehu were used for the Emyn Muil and Mordor. I heard that it was easy to identify them as the location sites. (More Images...)

This ski field is on the rugged slopes. In winter, it is completely covered with a lot of snow.

Walk through Orc country, Mordor
We started to explore the filming sites of Mordor on foot.

Orc road
Here is the road where the Orcs army were marching to the Black Gate and where they found Frodo and Sam diguised, as Orcs wearing armor. (More Images...)

The guide is playing the Orcs marching to the Black Gate. We are playing the Hobbits hiding from the army on the march! (More Images...)

Spot where Sauron lost the One Ring
Here was the place where the last alliance between Elves and Men battled against Sauron. And the One Ring was cut from his hand.

It was a really wilderness area. This whole area in the fog was almost Mordor in the movie. But the fog was so thick I couldn't see through so well and I almost lost sight of my companions.
