Rivendell
Rivendell, the elvish refuge built by Elrond, was created in Kaitoke Regional Park. It was only a few minutes walk to the film site from the park entrance. Rivendell is where the council of Elrond was held and the fate of the Ring was decided in the first film, The Fellowship of the Ring.

The set of Rivendell in the movie had a beautiful architectural appearance. Most of them were digitally created and combined with a miniature set. Nothing remains of the film set. So I think that it is hard to identify with the movie scene without a good guide. (More Images...)
