I heard that this palace was Ludwig II's most ambitious palace and he aimed to achieve a totall replica of the Palace of Versailles. So, its complete appearance, interior and garden mirrors the Versailles.
I haven't visited the Palace of Versailles and unfortunately, I didn't appreciate exactly what our tour guide said.

Of course, I didn't take a ride on a horse-and-cart on the way back to the pier. I have a tendency to get mosquito bites easily and I really hate the mosquito-infested forest. So I ran through the forest to keep mosquitoes at bay!

Much to my delight, there was a nice beer garden at the edge of the forest. I jumped into the restaurant!

The beer was excellent in taste.
The wonderful beer took my weariness of the journey away and it made me feel really good. So I totally forgot about my experience of the great palace! Even if the palace is unfinished, this island is worth a trip!

There are other tourist attractions, in addition to the King Ludwigs palace and the island is beautiful to wander around. The Herreninsel island is a great place to spend an entire day but I felt greater when I drank beer and I left the island within hours. Looking back today, I feel foolish for not visiting various places on the island.

In Prien you can take a steam-train for a 2 km ride from the town center, next to the DB station, to the pier, for boats to the islands.
It is the original steam train which the town of Priem used to depend on. It gives a special charm to see the small little steamer carrying tourists.

Taking a journey with this little steam-train was a great experience.
Above all, my most unforgettable memory was that I had my face painted, using stick foundation, with the German national flags. It was my initiation into a charismatic group of middle-aged, female, football supporters, who were riding the steam-train with me.
Germany was to play a World Cup soccer game that evening and everybody around me was charged up!
