After a 1.5 hike, I arrived at Morteratsch and I took a beer break at Hotel Morteratsch which was located next to Morteratsch train station.
Morteratsch is famous for its tourist attraction, "Morteratsch Glacier". About 120 years ago, the ice front of the glacier used to be located directly at the train station. Today, the ice front has receded deep into the valley over 1800m and unfortunately you can't see it from the station.

The shortest and easiest route to the glacier was a straight road which started from in front of the hotel. The whole way was a well-kept walkable path but it was mostly a gentle uphill slope and the long-winded path made me tired.

On the way to the glacier, I saw some numbers drawn on the rocks. They were markers which showed the rexession of the glacier....

After walking for one hour along the straight road, the front of the glacier finally showed up before me!

Here was the location of the front of the glacier as of 2013. The 2010 marker was right in front of me, and you can see the incredible speed of the glacier's retreat!

By the way, you can walk on the glacier but of course you take your life in your own hands.

After a 90-minute round-trip to the glacier, I went back to St.Moritz. My pedometer showed 25,056 steps today.
