Zurich to Japan

I felt tired at the thought of going back to Murtel station in snow...so I decided to walk down on the opposite side of the station and I headed to the Roseg Valley.

There wasn't snow on this side of the mountain at all and I enjoyed the scenic hike. But it was a total of 700m descent from Furcola Surlej to the bottom of the valley and it certainly damaged my knees! It was a bit of a hard hiking trail for me.
Despite this, in typical swiss hiking style, many non-Japanese hikers were hiking up from the bottom of the valley instead of down from the top as Japanese do, and I was surprised by that. They were really energetic as usual!

After a 1.5 hour steep downhill hike, I finally arrived at the bottom of the valley but the hike was not yet over.

From the bottom of the valley to Pontresina train station, I had yet 1.5 hours to go by foot. The hiking trail toward Pontresina ran along the bottom of the valley and there was no panoramic view of alpine mountains and no magnificent scenery of glaciers. It was a really BORING 1.5 hour hike...it looked like a spiritual practice or something....

Finally I got to Pontresina.
For your information, there is a horse cart service between Roseg Valley and Pontresina. Since it is a popular tourist activity, you have to make a reservation in advance and unfortunately it is not included in the "Mountain railways inclusive"!

I went back to St.Moritz by bus from Pontresina train station. The buses to and from Pontresina were frequent and actually it was more convenient than the train. However, taking a bus in a foreign country is a tough challenge and it always makes me a little bit nervous.
