At first glance, there is nothing but the lovely landscape. There are snow-capped mountain ranges and beautiful lakes and it is a very familiar sight in Switzerland to everyone.
However, if you stop and look carefully around the hiking trail, suddenly as if by magic you will see lots of marmots basking in the sun! It looked like a marmot paradise!
It was hard to believe. Despite my very best efforts to see a marmot in Zermatt I was unable to see more than a single marmot, yet here, there were marmots all over the place. All of my efforts to see a marmot in Zermatt felt like a something ridiculous to me.
If you want to enjoy hiking with a beautiful scene and want to see a marmot as easily as possible, this area is a perfect setting for you. You can hit two birds with one stone!
The weather was gradually getting better. It was too bad that I had to leave here today.
An hour later, I arrived at the mid-way station, "Chantarella".
I didn't have a lot of time before the hotel checkout time, so I went down by funicular.
So it seems my last hike ended up being nothing more than a "marmot-watching stroll".
