Most of the castles along the river were built in the 12th-13th century and they were the center of culture and politics in this region, during the Middle Ages. Today, they are the center of Germany's tourism!

Lots of people were on the open deck from the beginning(Bacharach) for hours. All of them seemed to be in good spirits under the scorching sun. It was beyond my understanding!
By the way, people who were staying in the cabin for hours were only elderly people and Asians.

I couldn't understand that people were staying on the open deck and I couldn't understand her behavior either! She was sleeping during the last half of the cruise. "Remember how much your trip from Japan cost!"

While she was sleeping, lots of castles came into view and went out of view....

When you can see a huge building, like a castle on the hill, you will soon arrive at Koblenz's boat pier. It isn't a castle, it's the fortress called "Festung Ehrenbreitstein". It's one of the largest fortresses in the world.
A part of the building is used as a Youth hostel similar to the hostel in Castle Stahleck in Bacharach.
As you can see, it looks like hard work to get to the hostel!

After the wonderful excursion cruise, we were greeted with a construction site. I felt a bit silly..."You let me down!"
