The Schilthorn with a 2970m high summit is a popular destination for tourists and it is easy to access from Muerren. The aerial cableway brings you to the summit of the Schilthorn via a few way stations in only 30 minutes.

The summit gives you an impressive view of the Bernese Alps, including the famous Eiger, Monch, Jungfrau and more than 200 other summits.
That's definitely a must-do! Of course it is on sunny days only!

The cableway ticket is not inexpensive and so I would advise you to check the weather on the TV channel that shows live views from the summit of the Schilthorn.

I enjoyed the view from the platform of the Schilthorn and then I went back to my hotel. However it was still light so I had a lot of time left to take a stroll. That is why I love to visit Europe at this time of year.
I decided that for the moment, I walked a hiking trail along the train railway.

The hiking trail was almost flat so I kept taking a leisurely walk.
After about one hour's walk from Muerren, I arrived at Gruetschalp train station and I returned to Muerren by train.

That was a satisfying day!

There was nothing like beer after a long hike!!
