On the morning of the 5th day of my stay at Zermatt, it didn't look like the weather wasn't perfect. If I were the old me, I wouldn't have gone hiking in the mountain. However I was used the variable mountain weather so I briskly headed to the mountain!
First I went to Riffelalp by train and I started to hike toward Sunnegga Paradise which was on the other side of the valley.
I walked along the valley which overlooking Sunnegga Paradise to my left. The path was mostly flat or downhill snaking along the valley and it was an easygoing hike.
On the way to Sunnegga Paradise there are some lakes, where you can take picture-perfect photos. I heard that the surface of the lakes reflect the surrounding trees and Matterhorn and they create wonderful beauty. Unluckily, it was windy on the day I visited and I couldn't take good pictures like a postcard.
When I got to the bottom of the valley, the path became uphill. It was an unexpected long steep path.... While going up, unfortunately I was too tired to enjoy the beautiful surrounding scenery.
About 30 minutes up along the long sloping path, I finally arrived at the mountain which was located on the opposite side of Riffelalp!
All I had left to do was to go down the slope toward Sunnegga Paradise.
Just for your information, if you pay close attention to your surroundings, you can see a wild animal like an Alpine marmot. Don't miss it.
