Zurich to Japan

Finally, I had nice weather!
Even if it was early in the morning, before 7:00a.m., the popular spot for tourists snapping shots of the Matterhorn was very crowded with Japanese people!

The mountain weather can change at any moment so I had to rush! After a quick breakfast, I caught a train and went straight to the top of the Gornergrat.
THe scenery from the top was completely different from the previous day! There was the same beautiful scenery as the posters introducing Zermatt.

By the way, if you stay at Zermatt for 3 days or more, "Zermatt Peak Pass" which offers unlimited rides is recommended. If you have a Swiss Pass or Swiss Card, you can buy it at a discount.

The highest hotel in the Swiss alps, "3100 Kulmhotel Gornergrat" is on the top of the Gornergrat. It looks like it would be a fantastic place to stay but BE CAREFUL not to get altitude sickness.
The uphill in front of the hotel leads up to the actual summit. It offers a spectacular mountain panorama surrounded by mountains as much as 4000m high! It is also a spot for tourists not to miss.

I enjoyed the breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and a large glacier. Without a doubt, it was the highlight of my trip to Switzerland.

Perhaps, you can find photographers and St.Bernard dogs at the summit. Staff will take a picture of you and the dogs wearing barrels with the Matterhorn in the background. You can purchase the pictures 2 hours later at the store in the town of Zermatt. I spent my money well.

I enjoyed the panoramic view of the mountains and I started to hike as I did yesterday.
The start of the trail is just behind the station building. The steep slope continues to the lake "Riffelsee".
I walked a steep downhill along the railway with a direct view of the Matterhorn. It was an easy and exciting hiking trail but the surface of the trail is rough with rocks; a lot of caution should be taken while walking down.
