A light wind started to make ripples on the surface of the lake, so I left Stellisee and I headed to the Murmelweg(Marmot trail).
The Marmot trail is one of the 34 walking trails in Zermatt and it is the route between Blauherd and Sunnegga Paradise and passes under the aerial ropeway.
As its name suggests, it is a themed hiking trail where the theme is "marmots".
This area around the trail is the natural habitat of the marmot. There are several wooden sculptures and information boards in many languages, and you can learn how marmots live there. If you are lucky, you can see marmots.
I'd seen lots of marmots from the cabin of the aerial ropeway so I'd looked forward to seeing marmots on the trail. Although I walked the 3.3km themed trail to Sunnegga Paradise, I finally found ONLY one marmot in the distance....What a letdown!!
