On the last day, Riina gave me a ride to the Mikkeli Station. She chose a different route which was a short cut. We followed a winding rough mountain road and I felt like I was riding a roller coaster. Probably, the road was frozen and it looked slippery. Finnish local roads were very dangerous.
Ollinmaki winery
Riina took me to a local winery near Mikkeli on the way to the station. I enjoyed wine tasting at the winery. However, I had to drink moderately because I was on the way to the capital city of Finland, Helsinki. If I got drunk here, I might not be able to get to my accommodation.
Kenkavero
Was one of the tourist attractions. There was a fancy gift shop and lots of items were reasonably priced. I bought a dishmat for a souvenir for my husband.
Mikkeli
Here was the center of town. The railroad ran right next to downtown. There were several hotels, restaurants and shops. Tiina had told me that a post office was at Mikkeli, banks were at Mikkeli and hotels were at Mikkeli, etc.... As Tiina had told me, everything you need was at Mikkeli!!
Mikkeli to Helsinki
Mikkeli Station was a small wooden building. Don't miss it. I got on a train to Helsinki at 3:20 and I arrived at the Helsinki Railway Station at 6:00. My accommodation
during my stay at Helsinki wasn't so far from the station and I heard that the best way was to get a tram. But, because it was already dark, I took a taxi in front of the station. Then the taxi followed the rail track for a while and I arrived at my accommodation! ...I should have walked along the rail track?
