A white building in the left picture is Baden-Baden Casino, which dates back over 250 years. I heard that it is famous for its great architecture inside and out. A guided tour is available.
A strangely-shaped building behind me is an open-air cncert hall. The Casino, open-air concert hall and Opera House, etc, all certainly sound like the lifestyle at a high-class resort!
Come to think of it, the average age of people walking along the streets in Baden-Baden looked of retirement age.
In general, the prices in tourist hot spots tend to be a little high and the tendency is obvious in Baden-Baden. Especially, this shopping arcade nearby the Casino. It is full of exclusive boutiques and gift shops!
It looked as if my friend was interested in such stores, although she didn't enter any, she looked like a child refusing candy!
The road train called "City-Bahn" is available. I think that it may be a comfortable way for seeing many of Baden-Baden's highlights during summer.
Although, Baden-Baden is a world-class health resort, which has a relaxing atmosphere, particularly attractive to people of retirement age, surprisingly I noticed World Cup football memorabilia being sold! Of course, there were lots of vuvuzela, which is a typical musical instrument and it became a symbol of South African World Cup soccer because of its loud and raucous sound.
I wondered if there was a place in Baden-Baden to make noise over the World Cup!
Loewenbraeu restaurant
Is a traditional Bavarian style restaurant in the town center. There is a wonderful beer garden during the warm season, and I really recommend you drink beer there in summer!
The staff members all wore traditional Bavarian dress and it was a good restaurant with atmoshere.
right:
This photo is two years old and it is from my 2008's trip. It was in the winter. Of course, the beer garden was closed.
Delicious!
There is nothing like cold beer after taking a stroll in the hot summer sun!
"Give me a sip!"
My friend deprived my beer!
"See, I told you so! Why did you order an ice-cream sundae instead of beer, here in the beer garden!? "
"Loewenbraeu" is a traditional Munich style beer. Loewenbraeu is one of the popular brewries in Munich and one of only six breweries permitted to serve beer at the Oktober-fest, which is the world's largest beer festival.
