Boat cruise
A boat cruise is a tourist activity in Bamberg. Boarding point for the cruise is near to Alte Rathaus(Old Town Hall).
The boat ride takes about 80 minutes and it costs 7 euros per person.

Beverages and ice creams are available on board at an extra cost.
Of course, I took my seat in the cabin and I waited for our departure time. Most non-Japanese people chose the open deck and they were already enjoying the scorching sun...as usual, but surely this is wrong. It was a incredibly boiling hot day!

As you cruise along the river Regnitz, you can see a lovely area on the north bank. The area was once a fisherman's settlement and it is now called "Klein Venedig (Little Venice)".
There were several half-timbered houses standing side-by-side with small front gardens and balconies full of flowers. It looked wonderful.

The boat journeys along the Regnitz river and it headed to the Main-Danube canal.

Here is one of highlights on the boat cruise.
Moderating the water level between two gates to allow the boat to pass under the bridge. It was an interesting method but it took a long time to complete.
It made me bored and I thought that everybody must be bored too.

The boat takes you into the Main-Danube canal and it turns to return from there.
There are some huge industrial plants on the bank. You can see there is a big difference between the Regnitz river and the Main-Danube canal.

"Klein Venedig (Little Venice)" is a very nice picturesque place of Bamberg. However, you have only 15 minutes to see the sight of "Klein Venedig (Little Venice)" during your cruise. Don't miss your photo opportunity!

If you are more interested in a Bamberg's historical atmosphere, I recommended a gondola ride. I think that you can get lots of scenic photo opportunities from an original Venetian gondola along the old channel.
