Filming Site / 'The Ford of Bruinen (Around Arrowtown and Skippers Canyon)'
The Arrow River was in Arrowtown. Arrowtown was an old gold mining town. Arwen was riding away from the Nazgul with Frodo on the back and there was a flood down the river. (More Images ...)
Tea time
There were several kinds of hot drink, tea, coffee and hot chocolate. And the guide had a few kinds of snacks, crisp biscuit, cookie and pound cake. It was extremely cold so all of them were really tasty! By the way, I drove a 4WD in a river for the first time and I was amazed by the 4WD's performance.
Filming Site / 'The Gladden Fields(in Arrowtown)'
When Aragorn's distant ancestor, who had taken the one ring away from Sauron in the war, marched through this forest he was attacked by Orcs. He was killed here and lost the one ring.... We can see a flash back of the scene in the movie. The location looked like it had a dark, mysterious atomosphere in the movie but the filming spot was also a typical place. On the left side of the grove, there was a road and houses with gardens. It's actually just in the center of Arrowtown! (More Images ...)
Filming Site / 'Pillars of the Kings(Kawarau River)'
The river which the Fellowship of the Ring went down on a canoe. And they saw the ancient king's statues on both side of the river. This was Kawarau River and the famouse base of activities like rafting, jetboating and bungy jumping. (More Images ...)

center,right: In the movie, it was a great river and we could see the river running through beautiful pristine wilderness. But actually, there was a busy road and a bungy jump base nearby....
