On the following day, I went out for a stroll early in the morning. I expected perfect sights for a picture without any obstruction. There weren't any cars parked in the streets but there were many delivery vehicles instead of cars! The delivery trucks are more hassle than cars!

Plonlein
When you walk down along Untere Schmiedgasse from Marktplatz, you arrive there after about 200-300 meters. Plonlein is a small square in the old town and it is the best known place in Rotenburg. This is where most of the tourists take photos and probably all view available almost on every book and postcard about Rothenburg.
There is a yellow half-timbered house between the small alleys and there's an old tower(Siebersturm/Siebers Tower), which was built in 1385. They created a very good impression of a medieval town and it defined Rothenburg.

The old town of Rothenburg has fortification walls like a loop and there are lots of towers throughout the town.

Kobolzeller Tor(Kobolzeller Gate)
Go down the right alley from the Plonlein there is an old tower "Kobolzeller Tor(Kobolzeller Gate)". The alley leads toward the town wall and you can go up on the town wall.
Outside the Kobolzeller Gate, there's a steep path that leads down to the Tauber valley.

Spitalbastei
The left alley from the Plonlein runs through the Sieber tower and it leads to an old fortress "Spitalbastei". It is located on the southern part of the town of Rothenburg.

I heard that it was built in early 17th century and it was the strongest fortress in Rotenburg. Today, you can walk around freely inside.

Rotenburg is the best-preserved medieval town in Germany and there are many beautiful medieval houses. Romantic atmosphere is present around the town. But inside of the battlement building, there were wheeled cannons and lots of small windows to protect the town from attacks. This place had a very different atmosphere from the cheerful mood of the town.

Spitalbastei facing the busy road and today the only thing you can see from the windows of the battlement is the busy road....However it ruined the mood of the medieval fortress!
center, right: It looks like just a graffiti, but it is an actual exit sign. If there wasn't the sign, I would take long time to find the exit.
