Burgtor(Burg gate)
Is the tower at the end of Herrngasse street and it's exactely right across the Marktplatz from the Roedertor(Roeder gate). When you walk through the Burgtor, you will enter a small park with an excellent views of the valley of the Tauber river.

About long ago, the gate of the city walls used to be a watch-tower and it's also used to be a fortress. Therefore, there were lots of traps to hold the town.

For example, a mask with eye and mouth hole shown in the photo above is on the top of the gate and it is used to trap enemy. The guards of Rothenburg poured hot pitch or oil on the heads of their enemies who were storming the gate. There is a distinct dark stain that hot pitch had poured on attackers through the mouth of the mask.
right: The gate into the town from outside was locked at night. During the tour with the night-watchman he explained very well, how the big gates were locked at a certain time. Anybody who was too late had to pay some money and single-man-door will be open for him.

Wandering around the town I saw a small Chinese restaurant at the south end. In general, the exterior of Chinese restaurant is decorated with Chinese-style display and it's easy to notice. However, the restaurant blends with the typical appearance of the town, so as not to disturb with the medieval views of Rotenburg.

I ordered a fried Chinese noodle with beer. It tasted good however it looked like a mountain of noodle from any angle and it was too much for me. I wondered if this was really one serving....!
