Christmas Market in Nurnberg
In late November, Christmas markets are held throughout Germany. Nuernberg also holds its annual market, like in most other German cities and the Christmas Market in Nuernberg is the most famous and festive of all of those markets.
It is also one of the oldest German Christmas markets and the first official record of the market dated back to the 17th century. The Nuernberg's Christmas Market attracts lots of visitors from all over the world and it is about 2 million people each year!
The stalls sold mostly Christmas-related items, like ornaments and candles.
During the event, more than 150 tents are set up at the Marienplatz, which is a main square in front of the cathedral.
If you walk around the market, you will sense with the rich smell of something. It is the smell of the roasted Nuernbergerwurst(Nuernberg sausage). People said that it is the best sausage in Germany.
Handwerkerhof(Court of the craftmen)
Court of the craftmen is near the main railway station and there are lovely half-timbered shops and restaurants. It looked like a small medieval village.
Some people said that it is purely tourist attraction and it was a tourist-trap area. But there was a great atmosphere and I liked it. I thought that it was a good spot for souvenir shopping.
