Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a small town and it is surrounded on three sides by rugged mountains.
--
The west part of the town across the station is Garmisch. There are lots of souvenir shops but Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a resort town therefore, it has resort prices in its shops!
There is a casino, an international conference hall and tourist information center, so it has more modern atmosphere than Partenkirchen's atmosphere.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen is the biggest ski resort in Germany and it is Germany's undisputed "Winter sports capital".
It hosted many international ski competitions every year and the level of the slope is high! I heard that it is a little painful for snowboarders.
I had my dinner at the restaurant in my accomodation.
I ordered a plate of pasta and salad with beer. However both plates were too much food for my stomach and it's impossible to eat everything on my plate. Most of them, as you can see, the plate of salad looked like a mountain from any angle!!
This time, I drank Lowenbraew's dark beer. I prefered dark beer to light one.
