Augstiner Braeustuben
Norbert and Minsu-san took us to the wonderful beer hall, which was one of the famous beer halls in Munich. It was near the next station to Munich and it was also close to the site for Oktoberfest. Oktoberfest is the largest beer festival in the world and more than 5 million visitors come to Munich during the festival. But I heard that it was extremely difficult to reserve a seat on an airplane into Munich and it was also hard to book a hotel room at that time of year. Drinking at the festival is what I have wanted to do for a long time and I hope one day I will join the festival!
There was a huge wooden beer barrel in the counter. It was an unusual sight in Japan.
The restaurant was more spacious than I had thought from outside. It was a little crowded with locals drinking beer although it was only 5p.m. We shared a long table with others and we enjoyed good German beer. There was a good atmosphere.
It was a charming local beer hall!
The restaurant offered various kinds of beer, including unfamiliar beer in Japan, from its beer brewery. My favorite beer was dark one.
A big round one on the left of my picture was a potato dumpling called "Knoedel". It was one of the typical side dish in Germany and it tasted more like "Gnocchi(Italian soft noodle)" than potato.
I felt that this beer hall was a great place which was suitable for everyone who wanted to get to know the real Bayern!
I really enjoyed chatting over beer. I hope to have a chance to drink beer with such nice people again!
Weisses Brauhaus When we parted company with Norbert at Augustiner Braeustuben, we three(Cho-san, Minki-san and I) asked Minsu-san to take us to another beer restauran. It was also one of the traditional Bayern restaurants in the city. You will find it on the left side on the way from Marienplatz to the lsartor gate.
There was a good selection of beers both light and dark. It was well-known for its wheat beers called "Schneider Weisse". I was afraid that I didn't like a distinctive flavor of white beer(Weisse beer) and I didn't try "Schneider Weisse".
View on the way back to our hostel
Minki-san was on the back of a wild boar...he was so funny!
We stopped at McDonald's or one of those places near the station. We had a big appetite!!
