Petite France
It is a traditional district in Strasbourg with beautiful architecture. You can see the typical architecture of half-timbered buildings around the district. I heard that Petite France had a picture-postcard scenery with lots of flowers in summer.

Cathedral Notre-Dame
The Cathedral Notre-Dame is located in the center of the area surrounded by the river.

The cathedral is the symbol of Strasbourg and you can see the aerial spire of the cathedral from anywhere in the city. The cathedral features that it has one single spire because it is built on soft ground.

Its facade is rose color because it was built in pink sandstone from the nearby mountains. It was began to build in the 12th century and it was completed in 15th century. Its construction took nearly three centuries!!

Inside the building, there were wonderful carvings, paintings above the altar and interesting stained-glass windows. The cathedral is a tourist spot, however it was filled with light from stained-glass windows and there was a magnificent atmosphere. It's well-worth seeing both inside and out. Admission was free!!

An astronomical clock since 14th century is one of the features of the cathedral. An astronomical clock is a clock with special mechanisms and dial plate to display astronomical information, such as the relative positions of planets. The clock was repaired few times and it's still working today! Considering the clock was built 500-years ago, it's amazing that it's still working....I wouldn't be surprised if I find "Intel Inside".
