Kriminalmuseum(Medieval Crime Museum)
Is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Rothenburg and it offers the highlight of German law history.
At the entrance of the museum, there is something strange like a birdcage. It is an instrument used to punish bakers who short-weighted their breads.

The museum is a four-storey building and there are full of various instruments used for punishment and torture. The collection traces the changes of European laws from hundreds of years ago. Many exhibits have English version explanation and it was easy to understand.

The instruments for torture and death punishment really made me nervous. But some of the instruments, like shame masks, were more like a joke than punishment and they made me a little bit chuckle.
left: "Shame mask" for gossips and "Shame mask" for men who acted like a pig.
center: School punishment for lazy students.
right: "Neck-violin", punishment for women who always quarrel and "Drinker's barrel" for heavy drinkers.

left: "Shame flute" for bad performance
center: Punishment for bakers who short-weighted their breads.
right: Big "Rosary", Church punishment for people who don't go to church.

Reichsstadtmuseum(Imperial City Museum)
Is another tourist attractions in Rothenburg. It has a wide range historical collections of Rothenburg. The items on display were interesting.
right: It caught my attention. The famous big tankard from the legend, the so-called "master-draught". I heard that in 1631, during the Thirty Years' War, the mayor of Rothenburg saved the town by drinking a draught of wine out of this tankard. It was a 3.25 liter tankard!

Here is one of the exhibition booths. There were lots of arms on display. The designs of these arms were very simple and they looked more practical use indeed. I had an awful feeling how glad I am that I had not been born in the Middle Ages....

Warrior Armors. It looked that they are difficult to move during the battle. I wonder if they are practically-designed or not!
